George Cockburn & Son first opened on Mill Street on the 12 th of August 1955 and quickly grew a reputation for the highest quality meat and home made sausages, pies and puddings. Over the years the shop has continued to develop and expand the ranges of produce on offer to the discerning customer. By personally selecting only the finest locally reared beef, lamb & pork and traditionally maturing it we are able to give our customers the top quality meat that they have come to expect.

During the winter months we also have a large range of game birds and venison available which is becoming increasingly popular as people look for something different to try. While the reputation of our produce was well known locally it was in 1976 that we gained national recognition on becoming Scotland’s first ever Champion Haggis makers. Recent years have seen the Haggis go from a once a year meal at Burns Night to being used every week in a variety of dishes by housewives and restaurants alike. We have customers visiting the shop from all over the country to stock up on our haggis and our prize winning puddings which has in turn seen our mail-order service for these becoming ever more popular we despatch anywhere in the U.K. Whether it is for a single haggis or a hundred just give us a call and we will despatch your order by 24 hour courier.
