Dows Bar was established in 1993 and was built by Mr Henry Dow, who had seen the potential within the locality for a friendly and welcoming licensed premises offering both Public and Lounge Bar facilities. The business quickly flourished under the ownership of Mr Dow and within 18 months the building had to be extended to cope with the demands of the business. The extension took the form of a conservatory, able to accommodate 50 people. The lounge bar now also has access to a children's play area and beer garden outside. |
Through the course of a few changes in ownership the management and key members of staff have remained, acting as a stabilising influence for staff and customers, and helping to maintain Dow's well earned reputation of high standards of food and beverage service along with quality customer care. Dow's Bar is now under the ownership of Mead (Scotland) Ltd., under the directorship of Mike and Audrey Dignan. Mike continues to control day to day management of Dow's as he has done since its early days in 1993. Charlie Bunch also continues as head chef - as he has done since 1993 - and both he and Mike take great pride in the enviable reputation Dow's has achieved for quality food and service. |

The bars continue to prove as popular as ever and the many local sporting clubs that operate from Dow's cements its reputation as a community pub. |

We also offer a friendly service to visiting football fans - Dow's makes an ideal pit stop either before or after the match. We also offer a happy hour to supporters clubs that notify us of a visit in advance.

The Sports Bar Recently completely refurbished, it now offers a very comfortable, relaxed atmosphere to enjoy your sport on one of our three televisions or our large screen. Also available are pool table and darts facilities. Food is served in the Sports Bar during the same hours as the restaurant. |
