MacDougall and Hastie butchers started out in 1992 in Tomnahurich Street, formed by 2 local lads David and Stephen. They employed one part time driver until they grew out of the premises and moved into Inverness’s famous Victorian Market in 1994. They then grew their staff to include another butcher and a full time driver and stayed there until April 2007 when they opened their new state of the art, fully air-conditioned shop in Queensgate Arcade. This shop proved to be their biggest challenge as they now make their own cooked products such as steak pies, mince rounds, scotch pies, haggis pies, chicken pies and curry pies. They also opened a take-away section in the new shop where they do hot filled rolls, breakfast, and lunches to take away; everything from stovies to haggis, neeps and tatties, and a home made soup every day - this is Inverness’s only butchers with a take-away.

MacDougall and Hastie have won awards for their cheese burger, and also for their venison and smoked bacon burger.

We also supply businesses in and around Inverness - Hotels, Bed & Breakfasts and Cafés as well as a delivery service to the household customer. All deliveries are made in our refrigerated van 6 days a week.

MacDougall and Hastie are now branching out into Gluten Free Products, starting with our pork sausages and pork burgers, also beef sausages and beef burgers. Please call in and try them.

We only use Scotch Beef, Pork, Lamb, sourced locally from the north and east of Scotland. Our poultry comes from Letham. We do not use any frozen meats or any foreign imported meats - this assures quality fresh meats for your table.
