What is Osteopathy? Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment which is concerned with the function of the whole body including muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, fascia and organs. The basis of osteopathy is that the structure and function of the body are related and interdependent. The structural soundness of the body is important in the maintenance of good health. What Does an Osteopath do? The osteopath aims to restore and maintain the normal function of the body using drug free, manual medicine. The osteopath is skilled in general diagnosis as well as using a specialised osteopathic diagnostic system. This is dependent on the osteopath's highly developed sense of touch and knowledge of normal and abnormal living anatomy. |
